You Are Not Too Far Gone

There is a quiet lie a lot of people carry, and it sounds something like this. Maybe grace is for other people, but I have gone too far.

Maybe you have thought it. I did too many things. I stayed away too long. I knew better and did it anyway. I burned the bridge, wasted the years, became someone I am ashamed of. God will take back the people who slipped up a little, sure. But not someone like me. Not after everything.

If that voice sounds familiar, I need you to hear something today. That is not God's voice. That is the voice of the one who wants to keep you exactly where you are, convinced that the door is closed when it has been open the whole time.

Because here is what is actually true. There is no version of your story that grace cannot reach.

Think about the people God chose to use throughout scripture. Moses was a murderer. David was an adulterer who arranged a man's death to cover it up. Paul literally hunted down and killed Christians before God grabbed hold of him and turned him into the man who wrote most of the New Testament. Peter denied even knowing Jesus, three times, right when it mattered most. Not one of these men had a clean record. Not one of them was too far gone. And God did not just forgive them. He used them. Powerfully.

That is not an accident. That is a pattern. That is God showing us, over and over, that His grace is not reserved for the people who kept it together. It is aimed directly at the ones who did not.

Jesus said it plainly. He did not come for the healthy. He came for the sick. He did not come for the righteous. He came for sinners. Which means the very thing you think disqualifies you, your mess, your history, your failures, is actually the thing that qualifies you for exactly the kind of grace He came to give.

The story of the prodigal son gets me every single time. Here is a kid who took his inheritance, walked away from his father, and blew all of it on the worst kind of living. He hit rock bottom feeding pigs, and finally decided to crawl back home, rehearsing his apology, hoping maybe his father would at least take him back as a servant.

But look at what the father does. Luke 15:20 says "So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him."

While he was still a long way off. The father was watching. Waiting. And the second he saw his son on the horizon, he did not fold his arms and make him grovel. He ran. He ran to the kid who wasted everything and threw his arms around him before the boy could even finish his apology.

That is your Father. That is how He feels about you right now, wherever you have been, whatever you have done. He is not standing at the door with a list of your failures. He is watching the horizon, ready to run the moment you turn back toward home.

You do not have to clean yourself up first. You do not have to earn your way back into His good graces. You do not have to become presentable before you come. You just have to turn around. He will handle the rest, and He will do it running.

So whatever has you convinced you are too far gone today, let it go. The distance you think you have traveled from God is a distance He crossed a long time ago on a cross. There is no sin big enough, no season long enough, no failure deep enough to put you out of His reach.

You are not too far gone. You never were. Come home.

Much love and blessings,

Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:

Family

Maybe you are the one waiting on a family member who wandered off. Let this be your reminder to watch the horizon like that father did, ready to run rather than lecture. Grace restores what shame never could.

Relationships

Shame makes us hide from the people who love us most. If you have been pulling away because of something you are ashamed of, the way back is not perfection. It is honesty and the courage to be received.

Mental Health

Chronic shame is a heavy and often invisible weight. If you have been carrying the belief that you are beyond help or beyond love, please talk to someone. That belief is a lie, and you do not have to carry it alone.

Finances

Financial shame, from debt, past mistakes, or decisions you regret, keeps people stuck and silent. You are not disqualified from a fresh start. Grace applies to your finances and your future too.

Physical Health

Maybe you gave up on your health a while ago and figure it is too late to start again. It is not. There is no "too far gone" with your body either. Today is a new day. Begin where you are.

Closing thoughts…

There is no distance you can travel that puts you out of God's reach. Come home.

…and now lets end in prayer!🙏

Lord, thank You that Your grace reaches further than my failures. Thank You that while I was still a long way off, You were already running toward me. Silence the voice that tells me I am too far gone, and help me believe that Your arms are open right now, exactly as I am. I am turning back toward home today. Thank You for meeting me here. Amen.
