When Your Life Feels Small
I was standing in line at the store the other day, watching the people in front of me unload their carts.
Christmas decorations. Party trays. Wrapping paper piled high. Someone behind me was talking about travel plans. Another person was on the phone sharing big news about a promotion.
For a moment, I felt it. That quiet little thought.
"My life feels so small compared to everyone else."
I thought about the ordinary things that fill my days. The emails. The dishes. The same route to work. The same routines at home. The behind the scenes moments no one applauds or posts about.
Maybe you have felt that too.
You look around and it seems like everyone else is living bigger, louder, more exciting lives. You see their announcements and their milestones and their highlights, and you look at your life and think, "Is any of this really making a difference?"
But as I stood there, another thought pressed into my heart.
What if the things that feel the smallest are the things God treasures most?
The hug you give before walking out the door. The prayer you whisper for someone who never finds out. The way you keep showing up, even when no one claps for it.
Zechariah 4:10 talks about "the day of small things," but I kept coming back to this reminder too:
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23
God never despises the small things. He delights in faithfulness. He sees the quiet yes you give Him in the middle of a normal Tuesday. He sees the way you love your family, carry your responsibilities, and keep trusting Him when no one is watching.
He is not measuring your life by how big it looks. He is shaping it by how deeply it is rooted in Him.
Heaven's view of your life is very different from your own.
You see routines. He sees seeds. You see "nothing special." He sees moments that ripple into eternity.
So if your life feels small right now, take heart. God does some of His most beautiful work in hidden places. And one day, you will see how sacred these ordinary days really were.
Much Love & Blessings,
Ramzi
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.

Where This Meets Real Life:
Family Corner
The way you listen, cook, clean, fold, and care may feel unnoticed, but God sees it all. Choose one small act today and do it slowly, as if you are handing it straight to Him. Fold the laundry like an offering. Wash the dishes like a prayer. Let the ordinary become sacred by doing it for His eyes alone.
Relationship Insight
You might feel like you are only making tiny deposits into someone's heart, but small kindness over time builds deep roots. Send a simple message of encouragement and trust that it matters. The text you send, the call you make, the smile you offer. These small things add up to a life well-loved.
Mental Health Minute
When comparison creeps in, gently shift the question. Instead of asking, "Is my life big enough?" ask, "Is my life surrendered enough?" God handles the impact. You handle the faithfulness. Your job is not to be impressive. Your job is to be obedient in the small things He places in front of you.
Financial Wisdom
Maybe you can only give or save a little right now. That little still matters. Offer it to God and ask Him to multiply what feels small. He has a long history of doing a lot with a little. The widow's two coins mattered more than the wealthy man's abundance because of the heart behind the gift.
Physical Health
A short walk. A glass of water. Turning in a bit earlier. These do not look impressive, but they are quiet ways of honoring the life God has given you. Small care is still holy care. Your body does not need grand gestures. It needs consistent, faithful attention in the small moments.
Find out why 100K+ engineers read The Code twice a week
Staying behind on tech trends can be a career killer.
But let’s face it, no one has hours to spare every week trying to stay updated.
That’s why over 100,000 engineers at companies like Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.
Here’s why it works:
No fluff, just signal – Learn the most important tech news delivered in just two short emails.
Supercharge your skills – Get access to top research papers and resources that give you an edge in the industry.
See the future first – Discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream, so you can lead, not follow.
Closing thoughts…
"You see routines. God sees seeds. And seeds always become something bigger than they start."
P.S. If you are reading this while feeling like your life is too ordinary to matter, remember: Jesus spent 30 years in a carpenter's shop before three years of public ministry. The hidden years are not wasted. They are where God does His deepest work.
…and now lets end in prayer!🙏
Lord,
Thank You for seeing the parts of my life that feel small and hidden. When I am tempted to compare my story to someone else's, remind me that You value faithfulness more than impressiveness.
Help me see my ordinary days the way You do. Fill my routine with Your presence. Take every quiet act of love, every unseen prayer, and use it for something bigger than I can see right now.
I offer You my small things today. Make them holy in Your hands.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
