When You Feel Lonely Even When You're Not Alone
Covered under the blanket of loneliness for so long, I did not want to peel back the shroud of emptiness I had felt. It was a feeling I felt compelled to hide.
I had plenty of friends. A loving family. Kids jumping up and down around me all the time.
Yet, as I sat there on the couch one night, I felt it deep within my soul. Loneliness.
No matter how many people I surrounded myself with, or how many places I would visit, or how many things I would buy, that void still covered me.
Only to soon realize, loneliness is not the absence of people or material things. It is what happens when we replace God's relationship with those worldly items.
It is not in the title of marriage or dating. Not in how many likes or follows. Not in the amount of outfits or places to visit.
It is in the closeness to God that we replace loneliness with His love.
He is the friend we can always rely on and confide in who can never let us down. His like is the only one that should matter, not the thousands of followers on social media.
He is the only place to visit when we need to draw close to the One who truly understands what it is like to feel lonely. He knew it best on that cross. For even the Lord felt the ache of loneliness.
What Scripture Says
"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you." — Deuteronomy 31:8
Will I never feel lonely again? Nope. But now I realize that is my cue to draw close to Him.
In that season of loneliness, He will use it to bring true joy that can only come from Him. So be strengthened and encouraged that you are not alone. For He is always with you and His words will always comfort.
Much Love & Blessings,
Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:
Family
You can be surrounded by family and still feel lonely. That is not a reflection of them. It is a signal that you need God. Do not try to fill the void with more family activities. Fill it with time in His presence. Let Him meet the need that people cannot.
Relationships
A relationship, even a good one, cannot fix loneliness. If you are trying to find completeness in another person, you will always come up short. Let God fill you first. Then relationships become a blessing, not a bandaid.
Mental Health
Loneliness is isolating, and isolation feeds depression and anxiety. When you feel it, do not pull away from people. But also do not expect people to fix it. Turn to God first. He sees the loneliness others cannot see.
Finances
Buying things will not cure loneliness. Shopping, upgrading, accumulating…it might distract you for a moment, but the void remains. Stop spending money trying to fill what only God can fill. Save your money. Invest in your soul instead.
Physical Health
Loneliness affects your physical health. It weakens your immune system, raises stress levels, and impacts sleep. When you feel lonely, move your body. Go for a walk. Pray while you move. Let physical activity reconnect you to God and to yourself.

Closing thoughts…
"Loneliness is not the absence of people. It's the absence of God's presence filling the void."
P.S. If you are reading this while feeling lonely even though you are surrounded by people, hear this. You are not broken. You are not ungrateful. You are human. And the loneliness you feel is God's invitation to draw close to Him. He will never fail you or abandon you.
…and now lets end in prayer!🙏
Lord,
I feel lonely even when I am not alone. I have people around me, but the void is still there.
Forgive me for trying to fill it with things, people, and distractions instead of coming to You. Teach me to turn to You first when loneliness creeps in.
Remind me that You understand loneliness. That You felt it on the cross. And that You will never fail me or abandon me. Fill the void only You can fill.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
