When Thursday Feels Like Friday But It's Only Wednesday

Yeah, that's how slow this week is feeling. 😢😬

After a quick, "God give me the strength" prayer to roll out of bed, the first successful accomplishment of this week seems to be the coffee I just made.

Then the feelings of any successful accomplishments have a way of trailing off right there. The cycle of the ordinary daily routine has a way of feeling monotonous and insignificant at times. I know you feel me on this one. Like, do all my little daily tasks even have a purpose? Does it really matter?

The emails. The laundry. The same commute. The dishes. Again. The meetings that could have been emails. The grocery run. The bills. The routine that never changes.

It all feels so small. So repetitive. So... ordinary.

And in all this "seemingly" irrelevant and mundane adulting, we may feel like God has forgotten about us. Like we are stuck in the background while everyone else is doing big, important things for the kingdom.

But here is what I am slowly understanding. Behind the scenes, we cannot comprehend how God is using us today in our "small daily tasks" in His master plan.

He may be working on growing our character. Preparing us for a future opportunity. Teaching us endurance. Building patience we will need later. Shaping us in ways that only repetition can.

And maybe, just maybe, He is showing us gratitude for the ordinary because somewhere, someone surrounded by chaos is praying hard and would do anything for "ordinary."

What Scripture Says

"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless." ~1 Corinthians 15:58

Nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. Not the mundane. Not the repetitive. Not the invisible. Not the tasks no one applauds.

If you are doing it for Him, it matters. Even the coffee you made this morning while praying for strength counts.

So today, ask God how He can use you for His purpose through the daily grind. Keep this verse on your mind and in your heart as you go about your day.

But first, coffee!! Because let's be real, Friday can't come soon enough. 🤪

Much Love & Blessings,

Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:

Family

The daily routine of family life feels monotonous. Same breakfast. Same school drop-off. Same bedtime routine. But those ordinary moments are building something. Consistency creates security. Showing up every day teaches your family what faithfulness looks like. The small, repetitive acts of love matter more than the occasional grand gesture.

Relationships

The everyday check-ins, the regular coffee dates, the "how was your day" texts feel insignificant. But they are not. Relationships are built in the ordinary, not just the exciting moments. Keep showing up. Keep reaching out. God is using your faithfulness in small things to build something lasting.

Mental Health

When life feels monotonous, your brain can spiral into "what's the point?" territory. Combat that by finding purpose in the small things. Thank God for one ordinary moment today. The routine is not your enemy. It is the structure that holds you together when everything else feels chaotic.

Finances

Faithful budgeting feels boring. Paying bills on time is not exciting. Saving small amounts feels insignificant. But financial stability is built in the ordinary, repetitive decisions. Every time you choose wisdom over impulse, God is using it. The small, faithful choices compound over time.

Physical Health

The daily walk. The same gym routine. Drinking water. Going to bed on time. It all feels so ordinary and unremarkable. But physical health is built in repetition. God honors the boring consistency more than the dramatic fitness overhaul that lasts two weeks. Keep showing up.

Closing thoughts…

"God is using your ordinary faithfulness in ways you cannot see yet."

P.S. If you are reading this on a Wednesday that feels like it should be Friday, wondering if any of this matters, hear this. It does. The ordinary, repetitive, mundane tasks you are doing are not wasted. God sees them. He is using them. And one day, you will look back and see how the small things built something big.

…and now lets end in prayer!🙏

Lord,

This week feels so long, and I am wondering if any of this ordinary routine actually matters. Thank You that nothing I do for You is useless. Help me see purpose in the mundane and give me strength to keep showing up faithfully. Remind me that You are working behind the scenes in ways I cannot see yet.

And Lord, please let Friday come soon. 🙏

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A quick note before you go…

Last Friday, I added a small rhythm to our week. “Top Five Fridays.” Five Scriptures, one real-life struggle, and a simple poll to help us reflect together. Think of it as a one-minute reset before the weekend.
