Surgery Recovery Starts Before Surgery

Many patients prepare extensively for the procedure itself — but recovery preparation often gets overlooked.

Healing increases demand for nutrients involved in tissue repair, immune support, collagen production, and recovery. HealFast was designed specifically to support the body before and after surgery with physician-formulated nutritional support created for the recovery process.

Instead of scrambling afterward, many patients now prepare for recovery before surgery even happens.

Because supporting recovery starts long before the procedure is over.

The Idol of Being Busy

We have somehow turned being tired into a personality trait.

Ask someone how they are doing and the answer is almost always the same. Busy. Slammed. Running on empty. Just trying to keep my head above water. And we say it almost with a little pride, like the exhaustion proves something. Like the fact that we are running ourselves into the ground is somehow evidence that our lives are important.

Somewhere along the way, rest started feeling like a luxury we could not afford. And busy started feeling like a virtue we were supposed to wear.

But that is not God's design. Not even a little.

Here is something that always gets me when I read it. Jesus, the literal Son of God with the actual fate of humanity on His shoulders, rested. Regularly. He pulled away from the crowds. He went off by Himself. He slept on boats. He sat by wells. He took naps in the middle of storms. The most important Person to ever walk this planet built rhythms of rest into His life on purpose.

If He needed it, who exactly do we think we are?

Mark 6:31 says it in the most quiet, sane voice I think I have ever read in scripture. "Then Jesus said, 'Let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.'"

Rest awhile. He said that to His disciples after a wave of ministry. People were coming and going so fast they did not even have time to eat. And Jesus did not say push through. He did not say grind harder. He said come away. Rest. Recover.

We do not say that to ourselves often enough.

A lot of us have built lives where stillness feels uncomfortable. Where putting the phone down feels like we are missing something. Where saying no to one more thing feels selfish. Where actually taking a day off makes us anxious because we are so used to the noise that the quiet starts to feel like a problem.

But that is not faith. That is fear dressed up as productivity. And it is keeping a lot of us from hearing God in the very moments He has been trying to speak to us.

God is not impressed by your burnout. He did not bless your hustle. He blessed your obedience. And sometimes obedience looks like closing the laptop, putting down the to-do list, and actually letting yourself rest the way He designed you to.

So today, take a real honest look at your week. Where have you been treating busy like a badge? Where have you been confusing exhaustion with significance? Where might God be inviting you into a quieter place that you have been avoiding because the silence feels too uncomfortable?

You do not have to earn rest. You do not have to justify rest. Rest is not a reward you get after you have done enough. Rest is part of how God designed you to function. Stop fighting it.

Much love and blessings,

Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:

Family

Your kids do not need a parent who is constantly running on fumes. They need a present one. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for your family is rest enough to actually show up for them.

Relationships

Burnout makes you a worse friend, partner, and human. Resting is not pulling away from the people in your life. It is making sure you have something real to give them.

Mental Health

Exhaustion fuels anxiety and depression faster than most people realize. Sleep and stillness are not luxuries. They are some of the most basic mental health tools you have.

Finances

The hustle culture promise that you have to grind nonstop to get ahead is a lie. Some of the best financial decisions get made when your brain is actually rested enough to think clearly.

Physical Health

Your body keeps the score. If you have been ignoring the signs it has been giving you, today is a good day to start listening. Rest is not optional. It is how you were built.

After 40, the gym can break you. That’s why millions of people are turning to walking to lose weight, find out your optimal step count.

Closing thoughts…

Rest is not weakness. It is obedience. Stop apologizing for it.

…and now lets end in prayer!🙏

Lord, forgive me for the times I have made busy a badge of honor instead of a warning sign. Help me build rhythms of rest the way You built them into Your own life. Quiet the part of me that thinks I have to keep going to be worthy. Remind me that You did not call me to burn out. You called me to faithfulness. Help me actually rest today. Amen.
