Not Today
"Don't do it. Don't. You. Dare. Do. It… HE DID IT!"
That was me, out loud, alone in my car, as the guy ahead of me cut over with the kind of arrogant disregard that makes you question the whole human race. I could feel my blood go from zero to boiling in about a second and a half.
Want to test the patience level of your faith? Take a drive during rush hour.
Maybe traffic is not your thing. But we all have that one thing. Or we have had that one day where it seems like Satan's minions drank gallons of espresso and their entire mission that morning was to get you rattled.
I sat there breathing. Praying, sort of. Watching that car speed off ahead of me. And the thought that came was simple. Not today, Satan. Not today.
Here is what I have figured out though. We treat them like they do not count. Just traffic. Just a bad morning. Just the kids asking for the hundredth thing in five minutes. Small stuff, not worth getting spiritual about.
But I think that is exactly the point.
Nobody is coming after you with some dramatic, movie-level temptation on a Wednesday. That is not how it works. It is a hundred small irritations stacked up until you snap at someone who did not deserve it, and then you spend the rest of your day carrying that. The enemy does not need a big win. He will take a hundred small ones and the cumulative effect is the same.
Ephesians 6:11 says "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."
Strategies. Not one grand attack. Strategies, plural, and most of them are small enough that you will never see them for what they are. Wear you down. Shorten your fuse. Get you agitated before you walk in the door at home so your family gets the worst version of you. That is the strategy. It works beautifully and it costs him nothing.
Which is why "not today" actually matters.
That little phrase is not a magic formula. It is just naming what is happening. And naming it changes it, because the moment you recognize a thing as an attempt to rattle you rather than just a jerk in a sedan, you get a choice back. You stop reacting and start deciding.
So today, when it comes, and it will come, whether it is the car that wants to off-road you for selfish gain, the hundred requests in five minutes, or whatever else is lined up to break your stride, do the simple thing. Breathe. Pray. Hand it over.
Do not trade God's lasting joy for the enemy's two seconds of satisfaction. That is a terrible deal and he has been running it on people for a very long time.
Not today.
Much love and blessings,
Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:
Family
Your family usually gets whatever mood the day handed you. Reset before you walk in the door so they get you, not your commute.
Relationships
Most relational damage comes from accumulated irritation, not one big blowup. Deal with the small stuff before it stacks.
Mental Health
If everything is setting you off lately, that is usually depletion talking. Look at your sleep, your load, and your margin before you blame your character.
Finances
Money stress shortens everybody's fuse. If you have been quicker to snap, check whether a financial worry is running underneath it.
Physical Health
Your body feels every one of those spikes. Learning to let the small stuff go is good for more than your spiritual life.
Closing thoughts…
He doesn't need one big win. A hundred small ones do the same damage.
…and now lets end in prayer!🙏
Lord, You know how easily I get rattled by things that do not matter. Help me recognize the small attacks for what they are instead of handing over my whole day to them. Steady me. Keep my reactions from costing the people I love. Not today. Amen.
