D E V O T I O N A L
Breathe. Trust.
You know the feeling I am talking about.
You wake up in a frenzy. Heart racing. That sick feeling in your stomach like you did something wrong, even though you cannot point to a single thing. The room is still dark, the day has not even started, and already your soul is bracing for something. Panic shows up before your feet even hit the floor.
I. Hate. It.
Ever happen to you?
If it does, I want you to know first of all that you are not broken and you are not alone. A lot of people wake up exactly like this and quietly carry it through their whole day without telling a soul. There does not even have to be a reason. Sometimes there is something real going on. But a lot of the time it is just the enemy doing what the enemy does best, trying to get you anxious before you are even fully awake, trying to chip away at your trust in God before the sun comes up.
Because that is really what anxiety is after. Your trust. It wants you to believe, even just for a few minutes in the dark, that everything is out of control and you are on your own to figure it out.
It is lying to you.
So here is what I do in those moments now, and I want to offer it to you for the next time it happens. I take a deep breath. I gather my thoughts in the quiet. And I start reminding myself of what is actually true, out loud if I have to, until my heart catches up with my head.
He is near. His peace comforts. His presence protects. He has got it under control.
Those are not just nice phrases to repeat. They are scripture. Philippians 4:6-7 says it directly. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
Read that last part again. His peace will guard your heart and mind. Guard. Like a soldier standing watch. The same heart that is racing right now, the same mind that is spinning through worst case scenarios, God promises to stand guard over the moment you hand it to Him.
Not understand it. Not figure it all out. Just hand it over.
So the next time you wake up in that panic, before you let it run the whole show, try this. Breathe. Then talk to Him. Tell Him exactly what you are feeling. Thank Him for being near even when your body is screaming that you are alone. And then let His peace do what your own willpower never could.
Nothing in this world is worth losing your peace over. Not because the things you are facing are not real, but because the God you are facing them with is bigger than all of it.
Breathe. Trust. He has got you.
Much love and blessings,
Ramzi

Where This Meets Real Life:
Family
If anxiety has you snapping at the people you love before the day has even started, give yourself a moment to reset before you engage. Hand the morning to God before you hand your stress to your family.
Relationships
Anxiety can make you read threats into relationships that are not actually there. Before you spiral about where you stand with someone, take a breath and bring it to God instead of assuming the worst.
Mental Health
Morning anxiety is incredibly common and there is no shame in it. If it is a regular pattern, it is worth talking to a professional about. Faith and getting help are not opposites. God works through both.
Finances
Money worries love to strike in the middle of the night. If you wake up panicking about finances, resist the urge to solve it all at 3am. Bring it to God, breathe, and tackle it with a clear head in the daylight.
Physical Health
Anxiety lives in the body. Racing heart, tight chest, shallow breathing. Slowing your breath is not just calming spiritually, it physically signals your body that you are safe. Breathe on purpose.
Closing thoughts…
The panic is loud, but it is not the truth. He is near. Breathe and trust.
…and now lets end in prayer!🙏
Lord, You know the mornings I wake up gripped by anxiety for no reason I can name. In those moments, remind me that the panic is not from You. Quiet my racing heart. Guard my mind the way You promised. Help me breathe, hand it all over to You, and trust that You have got it under control even when everything in me says otherwise. You are near. That is enough. Amen.
